Musings

Since Valentine's Day is on a Monday, today, and I work in the evenings, The Gryphon and I spent the weekend celebrating together. We exchanged presents Friday night. He gave me some really thoughtful stuff from Bath and Body Works. I had told him not to spend a lot on me because this past fall he bought me a new computer, and I told him at the time that he was covered for Christmas, Valentine's Day and my birthday in 2005! |

It
came in a lovely green cloth bag which I'm sure I'll find a way to use.
He got me a really great hand cream, because he knows I've been having problems
with dry hands. And he gave me some bath salts which are good for muscle
aches, knowing I have chronic pain in my left shoulder from an old injury
to my trapezius muscle. Along with that was a really beautiful, sweet card.
I gave him a card that I'd made on my computer, along with a heart-shaped candle with three wicks and a little plush kitten holding a heart that says, "I'm Wild About You." When you squeeze it, a song plays. I'd also had some flowers delivered to his office. But rather than a traditional bouquet of cut flowers, I sent a miniature rose plant in a red and white striped pot. I figured they would brighten up his office for longer and, should they die, he'd still have the red and white striped pot to plant something new. He told me that there was one flower and several buds, which might still be growing. Saturday we spent a leisurely day at home. I listed books on Amazon.com that I'd received from my parents the previous weekend, and he worked on tweaking a play-by-email game he's designed. That evening, we went out. I had picked out a more casual outfit: stretchy black jeans my sister had given me, which were comfortable, considering they're a size 8 and now I'm closer to a size 10! With that, I wore a black and white flowered tank top, a long-sleeved midriff shirt with a heart on the front, and my black jacket with white stitching, topping the ensemble off with my thick-soled black boots. We ate at the Indian buffet near the Bridge where we've eaten many times. Initially, we were planning to order off the menu, but then we decided to do the buffet and simply be sensible about it. Since we had about 40 minutes left before the movie, we each had one Amstel Lights and split one. We saw
Hitch, starring Will Smith and Kevin James. It was a lot of fun
and a great movie for Valentine's Day, since it's all about the wacky
things we do when we're falling in love. The theater was packed and laughed,
especially at a lot of the visual humor. That's a great way to see a comedy,
in a theater full of people. It was fun to have a relaxed day together. Sunday would be our big celebration.
