My final day in Central Pennsylvania was only a half day. Monday I had my annual eye appointment at my ophthalmologist, whom I've kept even since moving.

Since I didn't have to have my eyes dilated this year, I didn't have to find a driver. Everything went well. The doctor said everything looks good.

I got back early enough to work on Wild Violet, primarily focusing on the Essays section.

Dad got back from a morning appointment at about 10, so together we took Una for one last walk around the town. Dad really loves to walk Una. It's one of the things he looks forward to when I visit. Una loves her grandpa, too.

Since I was hungry, we dropped Una back home and walked to the local Original Italian Pizza, where I got a delicious turkey and cheese sandwich on their delicious homemade bread. They crammed it so full of lettuce it was like an extra salad.

On the way back, we walked by three white cats, lounging in the window of a former shop, which is now an apartment. I thought it was funny that they were all facing exactly the same direction. I wonder if they do everything synchronized?

Dad had a Rotary meeting at noon, so we said our good-byes in case he wouldn't be back before I left. I worked a little more on Wild Violet before doing my regular afternoon work assignment. Surprisingly, I got to hug Dad two more times, because he came through while I was working and just before he started his afternoon shift in his office.

Fortunately, Dad was working when I packed up, so Una followed me without complaint. Usually, when Dad's around, and Una figures out we're leaving, she digs in her feet and doesn't want to go. If she had her way, our entire family and all our friends would live together in one big house.

On the way out of town, I snapped a picture with my camera phone. It was a beautiful clear day, the nicest of the three-day weekend. Perfect for driving.

Back home, I called ahead when I was about 15 minutes from reaching home and ordered some Mexican takeout. I had just enough time to eat it before my evening assignments. Overall, not a bad day.

Moral:
Dogs prefer to live in packs.
