About a
month and a half ago, The Gryphon and I checked out a yard sale at a church,
which presumably contained items from parisioners. I found a camera bag
that looked almost brand new and bought it, figuring that my sister might
be able to use it.
When she
visited for my bridal shower, I gave her the bag, checking the pockets
before handing it over. In them, I found some cough drops, a gum wrapper
and an undeveloped roll of film!
At the earliest
opportunity, I had prints made. I ordered doubles so that I can mail a
set, plus the negatives, back to the church, in hopes that they can identify
the owner.
The first
shot somehow didn't get printed, but I took a photo of the negative and
inverted it in PhotoShop to see what it was. It seems to be a family,
consisting of a young man, a young woman and a father, lounging by the
side of a pool.
The next
shot is a loving closeup of the young woman in a pool, who smiles broadly
at the photographer.
Next
is a closeup of the young man. The photographer appears to be shorter
than the young man, which makes me think it's probably the one missing
member of the family, the mother.
Then
there's a shot of the young woman in a very similar pose, but showing
more of the swimming pool, which appears to be the sort of pool you'd
find at a hotel. Nobody else seems to be swimming.
The
next series of pictures are clearly taken at a different place. After
a blurry shot of a building emblazoned with the words "Kennel Club",
there's a shot of an empty track, with a billboard for a national telecommunicaitons
company. This is followed by a shot of a group of workers apparently readying
some greyhounds for a race.
Then
is an overview of the track and the scoreboard, apparently from bleachers
that have a roof.
Following
are several shots of the dogs racing, the best of which actually freezes
one of them in action, Number 7.
The
final shot on the roll is of three white ducks walking across a grassy
area.
As
far as I can tell, these appear to be photographs from a family vacation.
Who knows how long ago it was? It could be from several years ago. Hopefully,
when I mail this back to the church, they'll be able to find the original
owner, who will no doubt be surprised and pleased to see these long lost
pics.
