Then I got another idea: "What if we could project it?"
The event
coordinator said that they have a built in wall screen and a video projector,
so we went down to the room to look at it. I could definitely see how
we could work it into our decoration scheme. In fact, we decided to look
for images and create a slide show that could be projected from The Gryphon's
laptop. The images could run on a loop, or in random order, throughout
the evening.
We returned
to the lobby and started looking through the linens books. When we suggested
looking into renting more modernistic chairs, she suggested a cheaper
solution: spandex chair covers. Now, The Gryphon doesn't like typical
chair covers, because they look like someone put dust covers over the
furniture for the winter. I think it also looks like a chair with a butt
bow.
The event
coordinator went online and found some chair covers to show us, which
looked really cool. She's going to look up pricing info and get back to
us, but if it's comparable to regular chair and table covers, it will
be a cost effective way to achieve our look.
While we
were there we asked her some other logistics questions, such as whether
it will be possible to have our DJ play music during the cocktail hour.
She says it will, and she said that if we give her his contact info, she'll
take care of the legal issues, like having him sign a subcontractor's
contract.
She's also
going to look into renting canister lights, which can be a great, simple
way to create a dramatic effect.
After we
were done, her next appointment was arriving, but she helped us make a
payment on our account through the front desk, and then she told the restaurant
to give us lunch on the house.
I chose
a portabella, vegetable and cheese sandwich on focaccia bread with a side
salad that was so filling I had to box half of it.
On Sunday,
while The Gryphon was at his weekly PAGE (Philadelphia Area Game Enthusiasts)
group, looking through images for some to use.
Here are
a few we're considering using.
