January 24, 2007 - Time to Go

Sunday morning, The Gryphon and I slept in a little later than we did the previous day. We were going to go down to the hotel restaurant for breakfast, but Una started to fret as soon as we left the room, whining and howling. So we decided to get room service instead.

Strangely, instead of growing more comfortable the longer we stayed, Una only seemed to get more nervous. I think it was because there were too many sounds; too many people coming and going in the hallway, and especially maids knocking on doors.

Fortunately, the restaurant had a very nice room service menu. I ordered an egg white omelet with fruit and toast. It was yummy. Una even ate her kibble, which was somewhat astonishing. I suppose the food smells got her hungry.

Afterwards, we got our stuff together, and The Gryphon went looking for a luggage cart. He returned and let me know a bellhop would soon arrive to help us. I leashed Una so we'd be ready to have a stranger in the room.

Of course, she was very nice to him as soon as he entered and she could tell that we wanted him there. On the way down, we chatted with him about his dog.

After we got our car loaded up, The Gryphon checked us out and I parked the car in the garage until we were ready to leave. We stopped up again at the meeting rooms, which we still had for several hours.

The little Dachshund, Sydney was out with her mommy, but she was in a defensive mood. Seemingly forgetting that she and Una had been kissing each other only the night before, she tried to nip her every time we got close. So I had no choice but to keep Una away from her.

Of course, Una was very unhappy, because The Gryphon sat down and talked to the Dachshund's people, petting the dog. Una kept looking at him and whining. To distract her, I took her around to different rooms. She was being whiny even in there, though.

Most of the people were heading out anyway, so we left by about 1. The trip home was uneventful. As soon as we got back, all three of us went to sleep and took a very long nap.

I don't think I would bring Una to another event like this, but if we were just traveling with Una and looking for a place to stay overnight, we know to look for a Sheraton. Maid service optional.

Dogs think maids are more dangerous than bellhops.
