This week's bottom three contestants on American Idol looked more the way I thought it should. First, host Ryan Seacrest divided the contestants into two groups, without stating which ones were safe and which one were in the bottom three. On one side of the stage he put Vonzell Solomon, Constantine Maroulis and Carrie Underwood. On the other side, he put Anthony Fedorov, Anwar Robinson and Scott Savol. Then he told Bo Bice that he was safe and asked him to join the group he thought was safe. He wisely decided not to take sides and stood in the middle of both groups. |
After the commercial break, Ryan revealed the bottom three were Anthony, Anwar and Scott. Anwar turned out to be the one who was leaving. While it doesn't seem fair that he should leave before Anthony, who's not nearly as good, I can understand why it was him. Despite his great smile, his performances lack confidence. He has continually opted for safe, middle-of-the-road songs that sound good but don't resonate much with the audience. But Anwar has nothing to be ashamed of. This run was more than most music teachers get a chance to do.
The Gryphon took a half day on Tuesday to be there when the phone line, cable and Internet were installed. That went smoothly. I wanted the cable Internet to be hooked up before moving so I wouldn't miss out on any work. I'm going to have to have a new phone number, though, since they won't let you have the same number active in both places. When I stopped by, I could tell a lot of work had been done. There was new equipment and new cables and wires coming out of the walls. This should help things to go smoothly. I've had a lot of bad dreams lately, and I think it's mostly because of the stress of moving. Some dreams aren't so bad. For example, last night I dreamt I was cleaning the old apartment. The weather
has been getting steadily nicer. In fact, yesterday was shorts weather.
I even had the air conditioner on for a little bit. It's finally starting
to feel like spring.
